Jill Saur
"Like blank spaces around words and paragraphs on a printed page, the gap between the sounds uttered by our speech set the boundaries within which words, phrases, and sentences can take shape and morph into images in our minds." Ewandro Magalhaes Those words remind me of the spaces between the images in our paintings, the areas where the viewer is able to breathe as their eye moves around the painting. In my watercolor painting above, "I purposely left space to let the viewer's eye travel around and rest on the boat in the foreground. I painted this from an abandoned...
Art Commissions - Sarasota, FL

This abandoned boat on the beach, "Rhapsodic Blues", was inspired by a vacation on a small island in the Florida Keys, where I came across this enticing scene. This 14"x11" acrylic palette knife painting is rendered in the impressionistic style of Vincent Van Gogh, one of my favorite artists. This painting is sold, but I love to paint commissions and can render a similar scene for you. The great thing about commissions is that you choose the size of the painting that best suits your needs. My work is usually purchased to create a focal point in a room and to bring...

Tom and I (and of course, Jack) have finally made our move to beautiful Lakewood Ranch, Florida, just east of Sarasota. Were close to family and getting settled in our new home. The skies here are magnificent and I look forward to seeing what impact this will have on my painting. I look forward to working with new clients and painting commissions to suit their needs. Please refer to my website to see what...

Jill Saur
Painting By Andrew Wyeth – American Master Artist (1917-2009) Written by Jill Saur The best way to connect with others through your art, is if you're connected to what you're expressing. Andrew Wyeth was the quintessential example of a true American artistic genius. He was my favorite American Artist. Andrew’s disciplined artistic journey began as a young boy. His respect for the human spirit never wavered. Andrew Wyeth once said, “I search for the realness, the real feeling of a subject, all the texture around it, I always want to see the third dimension of something. I want to come alive with...
Textured Floral Painting

I love Van Gogh. He was a master artist, draftsman, and a genius in the use of color. Although he painted quickly, he applied his artistic knowledge with every inspired brushstroke. My artwork has been deeply inspired by Van Gogh, his letters to Theo, and his desire to express himself through the medium of paint. I've titled my painting above, "Joyful Encounter." I painted this textured palette knife painting using brilliant azure blues, effusive reds, and warm golds. Although I rendered it in a spontaneous fashion, I applied my knowledge of color theory and design. This painting is...
