Tom and I (and of course, Jack) have finally made our move to beautiful Lakewood Ranch, Florida, just east of Sarasota.  Were close to family and getting settled in our new home.  I took this photo the other night in our neighborhood.  Every day is a new adventure and every sunrise and sunset is a thrill to watch.  The skies here are magnificent and I look forward to seeing what impact this will have on my painting.   I love Van Gogh.  He was a master artist, draftsman, and a genius in the use of  color.  Although he painted quickly, he applied his artistic knowledge with every inspired brushstroke.  My artwork has been deeply inspired by Van Gogh, his letters to Theo, and his desire to express  himself through the medium of paint.   I've titled my painting above, "Joyful Encounter." I just varnished this 8"x10" oil palette knife painting. I've titled it, "Aspen Encounter". This is a field in Snowmass at my sisters ranch in Colorado. Beyond those trees is a wonderful path where you can get lost in the aspens and see bear claw marks in the trees. I love it there.
